Privacy

Your windows stay your business.

Effective August 25, 2026

Your window activity stays on your Mac. Split has no analytics, advertising, or tracking. Purchase and license services process only the information needed to deliver your download and lifetime license.

Accessibility permission

Split requests macOS Accessibility permission so it can identify application windows and move, resize, focus, or close them when you invoke a feature. Window and application metadata is processed on your Mac. Split does not transmit it and does not retain window titles or window contents.

Information stored on your Mac

Split stores settings such as split ratios, shortcuts, language, enabled features, and learned window-size limits in local preferences.

When Smart Split Suggestions are enabled, Split stores application bundle identifiers and occurrence counts for stable window pairs. This history stays in Split's local Application Support directory, is used only for suggestions, and can be cleared from General preferences. Turning the feature off stops new learning and suggestions.

For licensing, Split creates a random installation identifier and stores the license key, activation identifier, and latest verification result in the macOS Keychain. Split does not read or transmit a Mac serial number or hardware identifier.

Purchases, downloads, and licensing

The hosted checkout provider processes payment and billing information. Split does not receive or store complete payment-card or bank-account details. Split receives purchase information such as the purchaser email address, order and customer identifiers, product, amount, currency, payment or refund status, and license identifier.

To enforce the one-Mac activation limit and support moving a license to a new Mac, the licensing service processes a random installation identifier, a non-identifying device label, activation identifier, activation and deactivation times, and license status. These records are used only to deliver downloads, activate the purchased product, prevent unauthorized use, process refunds, provide support, and let the purchaser release an old device.

Payment, hosting, email, and licensing providers may process this information on Split's behalf under their own privacy terms. Split does not use it for advertising, cross-service tracking, or sale.

Service providers

Split uses a small set of providers only to operate the purchase and licensing service:

  • Creem is the merchant of record and processes checkout, payment, applicable tax, receipts, refunds, order records, and license-key issuance.
  • Supabase provides passwordless account authentication, the protected purchase and activation database, and private release-file storage.
  • Vercel hosts the Split website and the server functions that verify purchases, protect downloads, and coordinate licensing.
  • Google Gmail is currently configured to deliver one-time sign-in links and service messages. It receives the destination email address, message contents, and delivery metadata.

These providers may process information in countries other than the purchaser's country under their own privacy and security terms. Split does not give them window titles, window contents, or on-device smart-pair history.

Website and security logs

When you visit the Split website or use account and licensing services, Vercel and Supabase may process standard request and security information, including IP address, browser or user-agent information, requested path, timestamp, response status, and authentication or abuse-prevention events. This information is used to deliver the service, protect accounts and downloads, investigate failures, rate-limit abusive requests, and prevent fraud—not for advertising or cross-service tracking.

Retention and your choices

Purchase and license records are retained for as long as needed to provide the lifetime license, comply with accounting or legal obligations, resolve refunds and disputes, and prevent fraud. You can release an activated device through the license-management page. For access, correction, or deletion requests, contact Split; some transaction records may need to be retained where required by law.

Access, correction, export, and deletion requests

Email supportsplit@gmail.com from the purchase address with the subject “Split Privacy Request” and state whether you want access, a portable copy, correction, or deletion. Split may ask you to complete a one-time sign-in or reply from the purchase address before acting on the request.

The response will explain what was completed and what, if anything, must remain for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute, or other legal obligations. Deleting an account may end access to downloads and license management if the records needed to prove the purchase can no longer be retained. Requests are handled within the time required by applicable law.

Diagnostics and third-party code

The distributed Release build does not write Split diagnostic logs. Development builds may write temporary on-device logs for debugging. Split includes the open-source KeyboardShortcuts library; its MIT license notice is included with the app.

Split does not use purchase, license, or device-activation information for advertising, cross-service tracking, or the sale of personal data.

Changes and contact

Material changes to this policy will be published with a new effective date. For privacy or support questions, email supportsplit@gmail.com.
